A Nutritional Therapy Practitioner (NTP) is a holistic nutrition professional trained and recognized by the Nutritional Therapy Association. The focus of an NTP is to help support individuals’ health and vitality through individualized holistic nutrition and lifestyle factors, as well as supporting nutritional and physiological deficiencies through the NTA’s Foundations. NTPs are trained to support the body’s optimal function by assessing and addressing the health of the diet, digestive system, blood sugar regulation system, fatty acid status, mineral balance, and hydration levels. NTPs also incorporate analysis of lifestyle habits including sleep, stress, movement, and environmental considerations to provide holistic recommendations that drive client success. With this framework and focus, an NTP can support you in achieving your health goals. Even the most complex systems and processes of the body are heavily influenced by the Foundations an NTP is trained to support. Instead of chasing symptoms and trying the next trend, working with an NTP can help determine what your unique body needs to thrive and cut through the noise of health claims in the industry.
Hair Tissue Mineral Analysis (HTMA) is a functional test used to provide a unique cellular reading of the mineral and heavy metal levels in your body. By analyzing small samples of recent hair growth, you can get a snapshot of what your body has been exposed to and what it is eliminating through the hair. This data is valuable for prioritizing which diet and lifestyle strategies will be most effective for addressing your bio-individual needs. HTMA can provide information about your metabolic type, mineral status, heavy metal excretion, energy level, stage of stress, immune system, and more.
There are so many, but here are some frequent client concerns:
· Digestive issues such as chronic diarrhea, constipation, leaky gut, IBS, gas, bloating, abdominal discomfort, etc.
· Blood sugar dysregulation that often displays as fatigue, poor concentration, mood swings, sugar/carb cravings, weight loss/gain
· Hormonal concerns such as peri/menopausal symptoms, premenstrual problems (PMS)
· Weight goals (loss/gain)
· Complications from allergies & food intolerances, i.e. gluten or dairy
· Joint and muscle pain stemming from inflammation
· Sleep problems including waking in the middle of the night, sleep apnea, night sweats
I work with every client as a “bio-individual” to address health concerns & goals. Together, we will develop a tailored nutrition & wellness plan that works for your lifestyle, and can be maintained long-term. Your plan will include agreed on goals, suggestions for achievable food swaps, lifestyle modifications, and suggested supplements if necessary. I will not expect you to be perfect, but be willing & excited to add healthy options to your lifestyle. The entire process can done remotely which allows me to work clients anywhere in the world.
NO! But...maybe some foods will become a "sometimes" food. There may be foods you might say you cannot give up (mine is ice cream!) The key is enjoying that food is at the right times, in the healthiest way possible. We will work together to come up with a plan that is sustainable long term. Once you are eating new, exciting healthy options you may find that previous foods you were eating no longer have a place in your diet.
No. The goal of nutritional therapy is to address the body's functions to achieve wellness. You will likely find that by sticking to a nutrient-dense, whole-food diet you will naturally lose weight. The difference is that once eating healthy is part of your lifestyle, not a temporary "fix", it becomes a natural habit to feel healthy & maintain your goal weight.
